Smart Health & Education, Research Network & Innovation
Background:
The nonprofit organization: Health and Education Research Services, Inc., has a doing business as, dba name also, originally referred to as Padma Sherni Inc. (a 501c3 as of Summer 2017 ). The organization was established in the state of Delaware U.S.A. The name "Padma Sherni" refers to "Lotus Tigress" from a character name from original stories, for art projects, a "mascot" symbolizing power and strength, to advocate for child and family wellbeing through promotion of health and literacy, children's play, and multicultural awareness through the arts. The organization can support child and family program evaluation and consultation accordingly.
Projects are intended for all families, but especially geared towards meeting the needs of underserved populations. Approximately 21% of children in the United States live in poverty (National Center for Children in Poverty, 2015). For children in poverty, below the age of 6 years, neurodevelopmental disabilities has increased (AAP, 2013). Early screening is important to identify physical health or behavior problems, delays, or disability and then provide related healthcare referrals (Marks and Glascoe, 2010). Padma Sherni Inc. has a strong interest in increasing the rate of assessments and related referrals for literacy and health promotion. The founder started this nonprofit organization to focus on efforts like education as a path out of poverty, alongside of mentorship, social policy research and project evaluation in collaboration with others who have similar goals. Two recent projects that the organization is trying to do include:
1) The Music & Literacy Promotion Project
2.) Youth Leadership (accompanied by an Adult Volunteer for each of 5 students)
for improving School Climate, reducing school bullying, and a healthy active lifestyle
for preschool, elementary age, middle school, and high school students
Leadership Activity (1): 10 sessions: Storytime & Songs for preschoolers
Leadership Activity (2): 10 sessions: Overcoming Obstacles participation for reducing school bullying in elementary/middle schools, etc.
Leadership Activity (3): 10 sessions: Planet Health Curricula for nutrition & physical activity in elementary/middle schools, etc.
3) Play Activity Coordinators will support your family child care with story time, art, games, and more. Just email your request and we will offer a referral for college going students or graduates to offer support who are trained and have complete background checks.
Thank you.
